Whiter than Snow

This morning, as I woke up at some ridiculous time in the morning, an incredible sight met my eyes. While I’d been sleeping, the sky had dropped a fresh blanket of snow over Glasgow, and it looked amazing. The world looked so fresh and clean; even filthy roads had become stunning ribbons of bright white…

And the Bible says that we can be made ‘whiter than snow’ as well (Psalm 51:7)! The full force of that verse really hits you on days like today. But when you think about it, what does ‘whiter’ actually mean? How can anything get better than the brilliance of fresh snowfall?

My life must be right boring at the moment…

…or it could be laziness, impending exams, lack of inspiration or the addictiveness of iPlayer. Either way, I haven’t blogged for about a week… So, to rectify that heinous situation in a way which minimises my mental effort as much as possible, here is a funny comic from SMBC. I have got a couple of things to blog about, though, so deeper stuff is a’coming!

Also, it’s my sister’s birthday today. Happy Birthday Stephanie! Don’t crash my car…

Mr T. on Total Depravity

Listen up fool! A lot of suckas don’t realize that the natural state of man – the way we was born – is evil! Most fools don’t believe T about this, but that’s why they fools! Romans 3:9-10 & 18 says “I have already charged that all men, both Jews and Greeks, are under the power of sin, as it is written: None is righteous, no not one; no one seeks for God… There is no fear of God before their eyes.”. I pity the fool that don’t listen to T, but I REALLY pity the fool who don’t listen to what God said, sucka!

I stumbled across this via Sarah Leslie’s blog, but the original post is from jonspach.com. It’s pretty good. Apparently he’s going to go through all the Calvinist doctrines represented under the acronym TULIP (Total Depravity, Unconditional Election, Limited Atonement, Irresistible Grace and Perseverance of the Saints), but unfortunately I can only find this one… Still, it’s a pretty funny take on what can be a really confusing doctrine. I pity the fool who don’t read this post, sucka!

[UPDATE] Thanks to a Facebook comment, I’ve managed to hunt down the rest of them! Here’s the full list:

Jesus is my friend… The Remix.

At the beginning of August I posted a video that inspired me to reach for the dizzying heights of Christian Rock and Roll stardom. I didn’t think it could get any better than that. Until now.

A massive thanks to Abi Rose for sharing this with Ben Steen, Ben Steen for simply being a legend, and Facebook for letting me eavesdrop on other people’s conversations. Sick.

Apathy Kills. But who cares, really?

If a persons sins because he does not speak up when he hears a public charge to testify regarding something he has seen or learned about he will be held responsible.

Leviticus 5:1

I’m trying to keep this post brief, so I’ll cut straight to the point. God cares about the people who make our stuff. And, if we in any way claim to love him, we should too. Simple as that. It’s easy to wrap ourselves up in a comfortable bubble called ‘western culture’ and ignore what’s happening in the outside world, but we mustn’t. We can’t. God doesn’t give us the option to stay quiet when we know people are suffering to supply us with the things we take for granted.

Owl City: In Christ Alone

I’m quite a fan of Owl City, I must admit. From the first riff of ‘Fireflies’ I was pretty much hooked! Anyway, it turns out Mr Owl City himself, Adam Young, is a Christian, and particularly partial to ‘In Christ Alone’, which he’s covered really well (hence the post!).

A lot of you have probably heard it before (I vaguely remember it was doing the rounds on Facebook a while ago) but for those that haven’t check it out! Also check out the Owl City Blog generally, because it looks to be pretty good!
